Information handled by the app
On-device information
Your profile preferences, bar, grocery list, favorites, tried and disliked recipes, playlists, custom recipes, notes, and personal ratings may be stored on your device. This information is used to provide app features and personalization.
Custom recipe photos
Photos you add to a custom recipe stay on your device. They are not included in iCloud sync and are not sent to the community-rating service.
Private iCloud sync
If you sign in with Apple and use sync, DrinkThisToo stores your profile, bar, custom recipes, notes, and personal ratings in your private CloudKit database. Apple operates iCloud and CloudKit under its own privacy terms. DrinkThisToo does not copy this private CloudKit content into its community-rating service.
Community ratings
When you publish a community rating, the service stores the recipe identifier, your score from 1 to 5, and a one-way SHA-256 identifier derived from your Sign in with Apple account identifier. This lets you update or remove your rating while preventing the raw Apple account identifier from being stored in the ratings table. Other users receive only the average score and rating count.
A Sign in with Apple identity token is sent to the service to verify a request and issue a time-limited community session. The token is used to service that request and is not retained in the ratings database. The community session is stored in the device Keychain.
Advertising
The free version uses Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform. Depending on your region, choices, device settings, and Google configuration, Google may process an IP address or approximate location, device identifiers, advertising data, product interactions, diagnostics, and performance information for advertising, analytics, fraud prevention, and service operation. DrinkThisToo requests consent information before requesting ads and provides Privacy Choices when required. On iOS, the app also asks for App Tracking Transparency permission before ads start. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not personalized using your activity across other companies' apps and websites. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Tracking.
Purchases
The Remove Ads purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. DrinkThisToo receives purchase and entitlement status but does not receive your payment-card details.
Reminders
With your permission, DrinkThisToo can add grocery items to Apple Reminders. The app does not send your reminders to the DrinkThisToo community service.
On-device search and notifications
DrinkThisToo indexes your recipes in device Spotlight search and answers Siri shortcuts using information already on your device; neither leaves your device or is sent to any service. With your permission, DrinkThisToo can send a local notification suggesting a recipe based on your bar.
Support communications
If you email support, the developer receives the address you use and the information you include in the message. Recipe issue reports include the recipe name, issue category, and details you choose to provide. Do not include sensitive personal information.
How information is used
- Provide recipe discovery, personalization, sync, ratings, purchases, and support.
- Maintain security, prevent forged rating submissions, and diagnose service failures.
- Display and measure advertising in the free version through Google Mobile Ads.
DrinkThisToo does not sell personal recipe notes, custom recipes, bar contents, or grocery lists.
Retention and deletion
On-device information remains until you remove it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Private CloudKit records remain until you delete them through the app or your iCloud account. Community ratings remain until you remove the rating or use Delete Account and Data in Privacy & Support.
The in-app account-deletion action deletes DrinkThisToo private CloudKit records, all community ratings associated with the verified account, local app data, and the community session stored in Keychain. The app then provides instructions for disconnecting DrinkThisToo from Sign in with Apple.
Service providers
- Apple Privacy Policy for iCloud, Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and Reminders.
- Google Privacy Policy for Google Mobile Ads and consent messaging.
- Amazon Web Services for the shared recipe catalog, authenticated community-rating service, and the app's existing public pages.
Children and alcohol-related content
DrinkThisToo is not directed to children. It includes cocktail recipes and references to alcoholic beverages, alongside alcohol-free mocktails. Users should follow the laws and age requirements that apply where they live.
Security and changes
Reasonable technical safeguards are used, including HTTPS, private CloudKit storage, Keychain storage for community sessions, server verification of Sign in with Apple tokens, and hashed rating identifiers. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
This policy may be updated when app features, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
